What we do

Legal services in RI & MA

We practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts in estate planning, estate settlement, trust administration, guardianships, probate, elder law and Medicaid, and special needs planning.

  • Estate Planning

Establishing a proper estate plan is an important step toward ensuring the security of your family's financial future. A properly drafted estate plan will ensure that your assets pass in the manner in which you intend, help to prevent disputes, and create peace of mind so your family will be cared for after you are gone. We draft estate plans for every stage of life — from a first Will designating Guardians for young children, to complex tax planning.

  • Estate Settlement & Probate

When a loved one passes away it is most certainly a stressful and emotional time. It is our goal to assist families with the Probate process in the most efficient way possible, ensuring all of the assets are passed in the intended manner. We handle complex Trust Administrations, federal Estate Tax Returns, and RI and MA Estate Tax Returns.

  • Elder Law & Medicaid

We are dedicated to assisting not only seniors, but their families, as they navigate the complicated and often frustrating aging process. Our attorneys are VA Accredited and experienced in Medicaid planning and eligibility.

  • Special Needs Planning

Often the most important planning is overlooked when people are overwhelmed with the day-to-day challenges of caring for a child with special needs, or for a parent who is no longer able to care for himself or herself. We provide thoughtful guidance as you consider how to care for your child or parent after your passing.

  • Guardianships

A Guardianship is sometimes necessary when an individual is not able, or no longer able, to make decisions for himself or herself. We explain the process, assist with the Probate Court petition, and ensure that the proper steps are taken to protect your loved one.

  • Powers of Attorney

A Durable Power of Attorney and a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care are among the most important estate planning documents a person can execute. They ensure that the people you trust can act on your behalf — financially and medically — if you become unable to do so.
